Imphal, September 04 2026:
Potential candidate for Khundrakpam AC in the upcoming State Assembly election Heigrujam Rajeshwar has called for collective efforts to change public perception of vote-seeking politicians as liars and corrupt.
He was speaking at a function organised by Awang Chingkhei Laipham Yawol Lamjing Lup, its governing body and Khundrakpam AC Youth Committee at Khundrakpam Makha Leikai Community Hall, where he was projected as a candidate.
Rajeshwar said people view politicians as dishonest due to deeds of existing politicians.
He said farmers cannot work in their fields, the State depends on other States for food, and youth lack proper guidance.
Building community halls and roads does not make a good leader, he said, adding he entered politics on request of local clubs and youth to groom natives of the constituency as leaders.
He said agricultural lands of Khundrakpam are cultivated by outsiders on lease, irrigation facilities are poor and fields are left fallow after harvest.
He also said efforts are needed to protect Manipuri culture and to stop politicisation after the arrest of village volunteers who protected the State during the violence since May 3, 2023 .
