130th Irawat Month Celebration commences

Thoubal, September 02 2026: The inaugural function of the 130th Irawat Month Celebration and Farmer's Demand Day was held today at Tentha Multiplex in Tentha Khongbal today.

The event was jointly organised by the Irawat Celebration Committee (ICC) Manipur and Manipur Loumee Lup, Thoubal District Council with Communist Party of India (CPI) Wangjing-Tentha Local Council as the host.

The 130th Irawat Month Celebration is being held under the theme 'Save Manipur Save Humanity'.

The inaugural programme was attended by Chairman ICC Manipur, Dr M Nara, former Chairman Control Commission MSC CPI, Langol Iboyaima, Manipur Loumee Lup president N Singhajit, ICC Manipur Vice-chairman L Sotinkumar and All Manipur Nupi Marup president S Sorojini as the presidium members among others.

As a part of the programme, members of CPI local councils and Loumee Lup gathered at Wangjing Keithel and carried out a rally till the venue of the programme at Tentha Khongbal.

The highlights of the programme included paying floral tributes to the portrait of Lamyanba Hijam Irawat, releasing the book titled "IRAWAT ki Punsi Amasung Thabkna Kari Paojel Peeri" and showcasing traditional music and dance.

It may be noted that the Irawat Month Celebration will be observed across the State throughout September, featuring a series of events, including seminars, symposia, cultural programmes, and discussion programmes.
