Workshop on "Official Language Policy and its implementation" held at MU

The Official Language Cell, Manipur University organised a 1-day workshop on "Official Language Policy and its Implementation" at the Court Hall of the Vice-Chancellor's Secretariat, Manipur University today.
As per a release issued by Manipur University, the workshop was conducted with the aim to sensitize about the Official Language Policy and its effective implementation and promotion of Hindi in official use.
The event was graced by dignitaries, including Prof N Lokendra Singh, Vice Chancellor, MU; Prof S Jibonkumar Singh, Dean, School of Human and Environmental Science, MU; Prof M Premjit Singh, Finance Officer i/c, MU; Prof Ch Ingo Singh, Department of Hindi, MU; Prof Th Binoy Singh, Registrar i/c, MU; and Prof A Rajmani Singha, Director IQAC.
Addressing the gathering, Prof N Lokendra Singh underscored the importance of Hindi for official use, in line with Official Language Policy, encouraging communication in Hindi among the officials and staff members with determination and enthusiasm.
Explaining about its significance, he stated that usage of Hindi in official purposes can enhance professional growth of the employees including promotions and increments, boosting national visibility of the university.
Furthermore, Prof N Lokendra Singh elaborated on the roles and responsibilities of the Official Language Cell of the university in translating the proceedings of Executive Council and Academic Council meetings and Annual Reports in Hindi, contributing to promotion of Hindi language at Manipur University.
Prof Ch Ingo Singh discussed various challenges faced by the Official Language Policy in a diverse nation like India.
Prof M Premjit Singh deliberated on the role of Hindi language and promotion of mother tongue as sources of unifying diverse communities speaking various languages, promoting peace and harmony in the country.
Prof S Jibonkumar Singh gave an anthropological aspect of language development, further highlighting the importance of Hindi and its recognition as the official language of the nation.
Manipur University's Hindi Officer Dr Binita Akoijam delivered the welcome address while the vote of thanks was proposed by Meisnam Sapna from the Official Language Cell.
The engaging technical session benefited participants and administrative officers of the university, empowering them with shared knowledge on the official language and its implementation and promotion, aligning with the constitutional mandate to use Hindi in higher education institutions, propelling the university to achieve greater heights.
