Silver jubilee of Combined Christmas celebrated

The silver jubilee celebration of combined Christmas was held at Maram Bazar, Senapati district yesterday.
Different religious groups including Baptist Catholic, Revival and Seven Day Adventist, Islam and Hindu followers have been celebrating the combined Christmas since 1993.Maram Bazar Village Authority, Maram Bazar Board and Maram Bazar Youth and Students Organisation joined hands to organise the event in which 59 Mountain Brigade Commander Brigadier RS Kaboj and 34 Assam Rifles CO Col CK Mahindra attended as the event guest and host guest respectively.
Brigadier RS Kaboj unveiled the silver jubilee stone to mark the journey of 25 years of combined Christmas celebration.
Wishing all the people on the coming of New Year 2019, Brigadier RS Kaboj expressed happiness that people from different background with different religious beliefs could gather together and organise a common event in which all can participate and enjoy.
He lauded the people residing at the surrounding areas of Maram Bazar as well as 34 AR for conducting this noble yet a merriment gathering.
Kaboj further assured to extend possible assistance to the people in the near future.
Meanwhile, speaking at the celebration, K Raina, former MLA who put a great effort in making combined Christmas celebration successful, said that Maram Bazar is a place where people from different communities reside.
Raina added that the present generation is celebrating what the forefathers had started, which is about organising, participating and enjoying an event together and in turn strengthens the bond between different communities of Manipur.
People from different communities presented traditional and cultural activities during the celebration organised under the theme 'Embracing diversity, peace and harmony' .
