Imphal, October 21 2008:
To commemorate the sacrifices of 10 brave CRPF men who laid down their lives fighting Chinese aggressin on October 21, 1959 at Hotspring, Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir, the Police Commemoration Day was observed at Group Centre, CRPF, Langjing, Imphal today.
All officers, sub-ordinate officers and other ranks attended the function.
Delivering a brief speech at the occasion, IGP Manipur and Nagaland Sector, CRPF VPS Panwar highlighted the significance of the day and mentioned the valour of the 10 CRPF men who fought against the Chinese aggression.
Thereafter, the names of Martyrs' list received from the Ministry of Home Affairs of Central Government were read out.
Wreaths were laid at the memorial of the martyrs by all officers present and representatives of all other ranks followed by presentation of arms.
Two mi nutes silence in honour of all the departed martyrs of all the police forces was also observed.
