MSFDS announces Film Preservation Workshop, State Film Awards ceremonies

The Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) is organising a two-day workshop on film, video, and digital preservation, alongside the scheduled presentationofthe 16th and 17th Manipur State Film Awards.
The events are part of the 5th Foundation Day celebrations of the SN Chand Cine Archive & Museum.
As per a release issued by MSFDS, the "Scratches and Glitches: Film, Video and Digital Preservation Workshop" is scheduled for April 6 and 7, 2026 .
Conceived as an introduction to both the theory and practice of preserving film heritage, the prografnme addresses the growing need to safeguard moving images as vital repositories of cultural memory.
The workshop will combine lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises, moving from analogue to digital domains.
The workshop is open to graduates from any discipline who are willing to contribute as volunteers to the SN Chand Cine Archive & Museum, MSFDS.
Interested candidates can apply online through the official MSFDS portal, "www.msfds.org", on or before April 3, 2026 .
Participation will be based on selection, as intake is limited to ensure quality engagement and effective outcomes.
The workshop will be conducted by award-winning film conservator Dr Johnson Rajkumar.
In continuation of its commitment to honour cinematic excellence, MSFDS will also present the pending 16th and 17th Manipur State Film Awards.
The Governor is expected to confer the awards at the Palace Auditorium, MSFDS.
The 16th Manipur State Film Awards, 2024 will be held on April 18 while the 17th Manipur State Film Awards, 2025 will be held on April 19, followed by screenings of the award-winning films.
