Three more remanded in murder case

Three more persons who were arrested in connection with the brutal murder case of Ningombam Ningol Naoroibam Ongbi Shilla (53) w/o (L) Rame of Khurai Thoudam Leikai on September 18 night, Imphal East under Porompat Police Station have been remanded in judicial custody.
The accused persons identified as Naoroibam Thoiba (68) s/o (L) Kalachandra of Kangla Siphai, Ayam Nobokumar alias Nobo (58) s/o (L) Maipak and his youngest son Ayam Rohen (24) of Khuarai Chingangbam Leikai, presently staying at Khurai Thoudam Leikai were produced before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Imphal East today after completion of police custody remand by a team of Porompat police station.
An APP for the State submitted that investigation so far revealed that tension had been simmering in the family over the homestead inheritance and disagreement to split the homestead land.
It was also submitted that the tension often escalated into quarrels and the murder stemmed from the homestead land and its inheritance.
The accused persons planned to wipe out the deceased so that they could claim the property.
The accused persons were having an argument with the deceased when matter took a turn for the worse and the main accused Ayam Ronny grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the deceased multiple times, the APP said.
The APP further submitted that the main accused had committed an extremely barbaric and heinous crime of murder while the victim was defenceless as she lived alone and had no chance to save herself or resist the attack.
The intention of the main accused was to murder the deceased so that they can grab the homestead land.
The previous and the subsequent conduct of the main accused clearly revealed that co-accused persons were mentally alert for which they selected the opportune moment to commit the crime and they escaped from the crime scene after committing the crime The APP further submitted that there is strong prima facie evidence against tire alleged accused persons for the offence and they are highly required to be remanded in judicial custody so as to prevent them from tampering evidence and hampering the prosecution witnesses.
The Court remanded the accused persons in judicial custody till October 10.Earlier on September 24, the same Court remanded main accused Ayam Ronny (29) s/o Ayam Nobokumar.
When Ayam Ronny was produced before Court, the prosecution submitted he (Ronny) admitted that he had killed his aunt to grab the homestead land of his deceased aunt.
