Imphal, August 26 2025:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president K Meghachandra has accused the BJP Government of disregarding the people of Manipur by failing to take initiatives to resettle the internally displaced people (IDPs) who have been taking refuge in relief camps for over two years.
He made the accusation during the 50th death anniversary of Dr Narayan Subbarao Hardikar who founded Congress Seva Dal held at Congress Bhavan today.
At the function, Meghachandra stated that the Government hasn't devised a plan or worked out a roadmap to allow the IDPs to return home.
He also alleged that the Government has failed to facilitate free movement along the National Highways.
There is no concrete plan to resettle the IDPs till today, he said, accusing the BJP Government of ignoring the plight of the Manipuri people.
He, meanwhile, said that Dr NS Hardikar was a renowned scholar and a Congress leader who founded the Congress Seva Dal.
The Seva Dal spread the ideology of the Congress party, apart from serving the people and imparting discipline, he said.
Ex Congress MLAs, MPs and executives of MPCC offered floral tributes to the photo of NS Hardikar during the observance.
