AMESCO organises Eid-Ul-Zuha gift distribution programme at Sora

Ahead of the celebration of Eid-Ul-Zuha festival on May 28, the All Manipur Ethnical Socio Cultural Organisation (AMESCO), in collaboration with Sports Development Authority (SDA), Sora, organised a gift distribution ceremony at the Library and Information Centre.

The programme was attended by AMESCO president Chinglemba Wahengbam; Meipak Ningthou Committee convenor Arshad Baseimayum; Slopeland Public School chairman Nahakpam Babulin and SDA Sora president Md Zulfiqar Alam Sheikh, as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Nahakpam Babulin stated that the exchange of gifts between the Meitei and Meitei-Pangal communities as part of the advance Eid-Ul-Zuha celebration would play a significant role in strengthening harmony, unity and brotherhood among communities.
He stated that such initiatives reflect the spirit that people belonging to different faiths are one family and said such programmes promoting communal harmony should not remain confined to special occasions alone.
He further stressed the need to organise similar activities continuously in educational institutions to encourage social cohesion.
Babulin also suggested that such programmes should be introduced at the Manipur University of Culture to further strengthen mutual understanding and communal ties among different communities.
Speaking at the programme, AMESCO general secretary Deepu Wangkhemcha said that the event was organised with the objective of promoting unity, coexistence and communal harmony among the people.
He noted that AMESCO has been actively organising and participating in various festivals of the State, including Gaan Ngai, Christmas, Ningol Chakkouba and Sajibu Cheiraoba, as part of its continued effort to foster stronger communal relationships.
Later as part of the event, AMESCO distributed gifts to 50 Meitei-Pangal men and women residents of Sora.
