'Sunday on Cycle Fitness Run' held

Imphal, January 25 2026: In connection with National Voters' Day 2026, a "Sunday on Cycle cum Fitness Run" event was successfully conducted today in Mayang Imphal.

The event was jointly organised by the Sports Authority of India (SAI), North East Regional Centre, Imphal and Khuman Maheikol Mayang Imphal, under the aegis of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.

The day's activities commenced from the school premises, with participants embarking on a 10 km cycle rally around the Mayang Imphal area, followed by a 4 km run.

The participants returned to the school, which served as the finishing point for both events.

Certificates were distributed to all students who took part in the run and cycle rally by officials from the SAI Takyelpat Imphal Centre to encourage their participation.

The event saw the attendance of several dignitaries, including Dr Salam Dhanachadra, Joint Director, My Bharat Manipur; Yengkhom Bhubareshor, Account Officer, SAI; Th Malviya Devi, Project & Administration, SAI; and Naorem Manglemjao, Principal, Khuman Maheikol Mayang Imphal.

At the event, Malviya Devi highlighted that the "Sunday on Cycle" initiative, launched by the Prime Minister on December 17, 2024, has been ongoing for over a year.

The main objective is to foster a cycling habit among the public, not only for physical fitness but also as an environmentally friendly alternative means of transportation.

She also urged everyone to join in cycling together for a healthy body and a better environment.
