Imphal, December 24 2025: The 53rd Foundation Day of Harimati Dance & Music Centre was celebrated today at its complex in Porompat, Imphal East district.

The celebration was graced by Harimati Dance & Music Centre president Naorem Manishana, executive member Yumnam Gunindro and social worker Yumnam Ibomcha as presidium members.

The event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp followed by offering of floral tributes to the deceased founder members, office bearers, members and artists of Harimati Dance & Music Centre.

Delivering the welcome address, Harimati Dance & Music Centre secretary Naorem Harimati said that the Centre has produced many renowned artistes since its establishment.

He asserted that since its inception in 1972, the Centre has showcased a multitude of art forms such as dance drama, ballet, Raas Leela and many art and culture productions.

He also mentioned that the Centre actively trains new generations of artists, ensuring the continuation of rich cultural practices like Raas Leela and Pung Cholom, vital to Manipur's identity.

The Foundation Day celebration was marked by mesmerising performances of 'Maibi Jagoi', 'Thang Leiteng', 'Thougal Jagoi', 'Meitei Wari Liba', 'Pung Cholom', 'Kabui Jagoi' and 'Mao Jagoi' by artists of the Harimati Dance & Music Centre.
