Imphal, July 24 2025:
Lamlai MLA Kh Ibomcha on Thursday submitted a memorandum to Governor AK Bhalla, urging latter's intervention in resolving the ongoing pen-down strike launched by members of the Lecturers' Association Manipur, 2018 Batch, citing its adverse impacts on students across the state.
According to the memorandum, students of Lamlai Higher Secondary School, Pungdongbam approached the local MLA to seek his help in ending the strike, which has disrupted classes in government-run higher secondary schools.
The memorandum highlighted that students in the state have already faced repeated setbacks over the past few years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, natural disasters such as floods, and other disturbances.
The ongoing strike has further deteriorated the academic atmosphere in 603 government higher secondary schools across the state, it added.
The MLA also pointed out that the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) had announced changes to the Class XI examination system from the current academic year, making uninterrupted learning even more critical for students.
He urged the Governor to take necessary steps to bring the strike to an end and ensure the academic interests and careers of students are safeguarded.
