Manipuri artists shine at Mudra Dance Festival 2026 in Mumbai

The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) at Nariman Point, Mumbai, vibrated with the rhythmic energy of Manipur today as artists from the Shree Shree Govindaji Nat Sankirtan, Wangkhei Palace Compound, took center stage at the Mudra Dance Festival 2026.Led by Dr Chakpram Narendra Singh, the troupe delivered a powerful performance at the NCPA Experimental Theatre.
The showcase featured a comprehensive display of Manipuri percussive arts, including Pung Cholom, Dhol Dhulok Cholom and Moibung Khongba.
The high-energy performance captivated the audience, with the intricate rhythms and soulful melodies of the dual Moibungs leaving a lasting impression on the spectators gathered at the hall.
After the show, Dr Swapnokalpa Dasgupta, Head of the Dance Department at NCPA, personally met with and congratulated Dr Chakpram Narendra Singh on the successful presentation.
The participating artists from Manipur included Dr Chakpram Narendra Singh, Laishram Ren Singh, Ningombam Chinglensana Meitei, Shamulailatpam Romeo Sharma, Blessingson Pangambam, Tenneyson Pangambam and Irom Rojit Singh.
The Mudra Dance Festival continues to be a premier platform for Indian classical arts, also featuring renowned performers of Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Kathak, and Mohiniyattam from various States across the country.
