District-level workshops on Good Governance Week held across State

PzwL/Kak/Jbm/CCpur, December 23 2025: As part of the ongoing Good Governance Week -'Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore' campaign, district-level workshops on good governance were organised across several districts of Manipur, including Pherzawl, Kakching, Jiribam and Churachandpur, on Tuesday.

PHERZAWL

In Pherzawl, the workshop was organised by the District Administration at the DC Office Conference Hall and was attended by district-level officers and officials of various departments.

Delivering the keynote address, SP Pherzawl, T Lalboi Haokip highlighted the significance of Good Governance Week in alignment with India's vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.Emphasising a bottom-up approach to development, he said that progress must begin at the district level and move upward to the state and national levels.

He underscored the importance of equity, sustainability, resilience and participatory governance.

He urged all departments to work collaboratively, share learning and address existing gaps to ensure the district's meaningful contribution to nation-building.

Speaking as the chief guest, Deputy Commissioner, Mannuamching stated that good governance begins with a clear vision aimed at the holistic development of the district with special emphasis on education and proactive, forward-looking administration.

She stressed the need for prompt redressal of public grievances through effective grievance redressal mechanisms.

During the workshop, Joel G Haokip ADC Pherzawl, led a discussion on the District@100 Vision Document, which is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and the key pillars of Viksit Bharat 2047.Divisional Forest Officer, Pherzawl, Niangthianhoi gave a PowerPoint presentation on good governance in the Forest Department, highlighting guiding principles and activities under the State Plan and CAMPA for the current financial year.

Presentations were also made by CMO and ZEO, Pherzawl, highlighting their departments' activities, achievements, as well as key issues and challenges.

The District Information Office (DIPR), Pherzawl, also showcased a visual presentation featuring moving images of activities undertaken by various line departments of the district during the workshop.

KAKCHING

The District Administration Kakching organised a district-level workshop under the "Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore" campaign at the DC Conference Hall, DC Office Complex in Kakching district.

Speaking at the workshop, Additional Deputy Commissioner P Shantikumar Singh highlighted the significance of the Good Governance Week.

He urged all concerned officials to promptly address public grievances and ensure efficient delivery of services, while advising the District Level Officers to perform at their level best.

During the workshop, presentations on various initiatives and programs by the District Social Welfare Office, Zonal Education Office, and District Health Society were highlighted.

District Social Welfare Officer highlighted the status of implementation and updates on various schemes in the district under the National Social Assistance Programme (NSAP) and state-sponsored initiatives, including the Manipur Old Age Pension Scheme, Chief Minister's Widow Pension Scheme, Marriage Incentive Allowance for Differently-Abled Couples, Unemployment Allowance for Persons with Disabilities, among others.

Meanwhile, Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) outlined the implementation of Samagra Shiksha Scheme, PM Poshan (Mid-Day Meal) Scheme, NEPUN Bharat Mission, Community Mobilization, Inclusive Education (IED), Vidya Pravesh and Vidyanjali programs in his presentation.

On the other hand, the Chief Medical Officer delivered a presentation on the district's health programs and also provided updates on the development of various health infrastructures in the district.

JIRIBAM

In Jiribam, the District Administration Jiribam, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Krishna Kumar, organized a district-level workshop cum one-day grievance redressal camp at the DC Office Complex.

The camp focused on grievance redressal and delivery of services to the public on the spot under various schemes and programs.

While inaugurating the camp, DC Krishna Kumar emphasized that the objective of the camp was to provide an opportunity for all sections of society to access the benefits of various government programs and schemes through different line departments.

He also highlighted that the duty of government servants is to serve the people with empathy rather than sympathy.

The DC instructed the line departments to collaborate with each other to resolve the issues of the people as and when needed.

The camp featured stalls from various government departments, including the DC Office, Jiribam, Forest Division Jiribam, ICDS Project, DCPU under District Social Welfare, Education Department, District Health Society Jiribam, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Sericulture, Horticulture & Soil Conservation, SDAO, JMC, Weights & Measures, RD & PR, MSPDCL, PWD, PHE, and District Cooperative.

As part of the camp, the District Health Society, Jiribam, organized a free health camp, where free medicines, family planning commodities, screening for TB, malaria, NCD, immunization, and medical check-ups were provided to around 50 people.

CHURACHANDPUR

The district-level workshop as part of the Good Governance Week was also held at the Deputy Commissioner's Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat, Tuibong, Churachandpur, today.

The workshop was organised by the District Administration, Churachandpur with an aim to reinforce transparency, accountability, and citizencentric service, and had brought together key district officials.

The Workshop was presided over by Teresa Tangpua, SDC/Branch Officer, Churachandpur.

The workshop unfolded in two dynamic sessions, charting the district's ascent to exemplary governance.

Former DC of Churachandpur, Lunminthang Haokip, IAS (Rtd) graced the workshop as special guest, sharing impactful experiences from his tenure.

He highlighted issues like traffic congestion and management, and road connectivity.

He also stressed on the importance of leveraging urbanisation, improvement of road, the power supply including infrastructure like streetlights, and utilizing DRDA (District Rural Development Agency) provisions to boost Churachandpur's town development among others.

The morning session showcased excellence that participants had witnessed inspiring PPT presentations on award-winning good governance initiatives from the past years.

The Chief Medical Officer; SDC Churachandpur, Lamka South; the Nodal Officer (DAJGUA/ AKA) and other distinguished DLOs had highlighted the general performances or activities, notable achievements and impactful projects.

These efforts, recognized for driving efficiency and public trust, had set an encouraging tone for collaborative governance.

In the afternoon session, discussions focused on embedding innovations and partnerships to further the district's responsive administration goals up to 2047, which was led by Lalrobul Fimate, ADC/ADM-II .
