Diabetes detection & awareness, eye check-up camps conducted

Imphal, November 23 2025: The Lions Club of Imphal Greater, in collaboration with the Lions Club of Imphal Ningol Collective, successfully organised a Diabetes Detection & Awareness Camp at the Lamphel Super Market Development Association (LSMDA), Lamphelpat today.

The camp was conducted in association with the National Programme for Prevention and Control of Non-Communicable Diseases (NPCDCS), District NCD Cell, Imphal East, Manipur.

As per a release issued by Lions Club of Imphal Greater, a medical team led by Dr Th Sayeeda Devi, Senior Medical Officer, CMO Imphal East provided free screening for diabetes to about 107 patients during the camp.

Dr Th Sayeeda Devi was assisted by Dr N Tyson, Dr N Manjushree, Dr W Roselin Chanu, M Nikita Devi, Ph Shusila Devi, Ng Ibetombi, S Memma Devi and N Seityabati Devi.

The camp also had the presence of Dr L Romesh Sharma, DM (Endocrinology), who served as a visiting consultant, supported by Priyanka Ayekpam (Dietician) and Joypriya Chanu (Diabetic Educator).

At the event, Dr Y Premchandra, State Nodal Officer, NCD, NHM Manipur, commended the Lions Clubs for their dedication to healthcare and assured continued support for future initiatives.

Informative Diabetes Care pamphlets were distributed to all attendees, and certificates of participation were presented to volunteers and associated local club members.

The event also witnessed the participation of Dr L Tomcha Khuman, Project Chairperson Diabetes, along with the president, secretary, treasurer of the Lions Club of Imphal Greater, Lions Club of Ningol Collective, and senior members of the fraternity.

Moreover, Yaima Eye Hospital, Khagempalli Pankha Huidrom Leikai and Chasma Studio Khurai, a unit of Yaima eye Hospital in association with Model Club, Heingang conducted a '1-Day Free Eye Camp with Free Cataract Surgery' today.

Apart from free screening for eye related problems, medicines were distributed to the patients during the camp.
