Three-day natural dyeing training for forest-based artisans begins in Thoubal

Thoubal, July 23 2026:
A three-day capacity-building training programme on natural dyeing techniques for forest-based artisans was inaugurated at the DFO Thoubal Conference Hall on Thursday.
Organised by the Thoubal Forest Division under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme, the training programme will continue till July 25, with around 40 trainees participating in the training.
DFO Thoubal Dr Leishangthem Jeeceelee, Range Forest Officer (Headquarters), Thoubal Huidrom Sunder Singh.
Thoubal Forest Range Officer Ahonsangbam Lanchenba and Kakching Forest Range Officer Laishram Dinesh Singh attended the inaugural programme as presidium members.
On the first day of the training, State Award recipient in Natural Dyeing Techniques Brojendro Oinam and Surmala Oinam imparted practical training to the participants on various aspects of natural dyeing.
Speaking on the occasion, DFO Dr Leishangthem Jeeceelee said the training was organised to provide forestbased artisans with knowledge and skills in natural dyeing techniques, particularly for those who were not previously familiar with the practice.
She urged the participants to continue practising and applying the techniques after completing the training, expressing hope that the initiative would prove beneficial to people living within the jurisdiction of the Thoubal Forest Division.
