Discussion on Seven Years Devastation and National Reconsolidation held

A one-day discussion on "Seven Years Devastation and National Reconsolidation" was held today at Manipuri Basti, Guwahati under the theme "Eikhoi Amuk Khuntaklaroisi".
The discussion was organised by United People's Front, Manipur in collaboration with Rajbari Athletic Club, Manipuri Basti Meira Paibi Women's Association, Sri Sri Radha Krishna Mandir and Manipuri Jagannath Bari Seva Samity, Guwahati as part of the ongoing National Reconsolidation Month observance from December 9, 2025 to January 9, 2026.Speaking as resource person, L Jadumani, advisor, UPF, said that the idea of Manipur has been called into question as different communities are now driven and motivated by their own communities' self-interest.
In the past, people stood for a united Manipur and were not divided along the community lines of Naga, Meetei, Meitei Pangal or Kuki, he said.
It is important for people to know that disunity among different communities is the main threat to Manipur's integrity.
At this juncture, it is necessary to recall the Seven Years Devastation and remember how Maharaja Gambhir Singh and Nara Singh freed Manipur from Burmese rule.
If people do not follow in the footsteps of the great forefathers, Manipur might face subjugation once again.
Stating that thousands of people have been rendered homeless in the aftermath of the eruption of violence on May 3, 2023, he urged people to wake up, unite and save Manipur.
The discussion was attended by Nongthombam Rupachandra, president, UPF, Manipur; YK Dhiren, president, UCM; Ngasepam Sanahal, president, AAMSU; Tongbram (O) Ibemcha, president, EECHAL; Oinam Premjit, president, NIPCO and Laishram Hemanta, president, Guwahati Manipuri Social Organisation among others.
Additionally, a similar discussion was also held at Red Land, Manipuri Rajbari, Shillong on December 19.The event was jointly organised by UPF Manipur in association with Meghalaya Manipuri Forum and Shillong Manipuri Student's Union.
