RIMS launches 'Plastic-Free Campus Drive'

Imphal, July 19 2026:
Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal today commenced the 'Plastic-Free Campus Drive' as part of its ongoing commitment to a cleaner, greener and healthier campus environment.
The inaugural drive was led by Prof N Sanjib Singh.
Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital, and Prof Y Govindaraj Singh, Nodal Officer, Kayakalp/SAP 2025-26, RIMS .
They joined personnel in cleaning activities across the campus.
Activities included cleaning of drains, collection and disposal of plastic bottles and other plastic waste, and clearance of campus surroundings.
The initiative reaffirmed RIMS' commitment to maintaining a safe and environmentally responsible space for patients, staff and visitors.
Under the drive, plastic waste collection and disposal will be conducted every Sunday from July 19 to August 30, 2026, between 7 am and 9 am by personnel of CRED and MSS stationed at RIMS .
Today's drive covered the approach road from Mortuary Gate to Traffic Island via SIB Gate, with 30 personnel each from CRED and MSS participating.
RIMS appealed to all members of the Institute to actively support the campaign for a plastic-free and sustainable campus.
