DC Bishnupur inspects KGBV Moirang, encourages students to pursue excellence

Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam, today visited Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), Moirang, accompanied by Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Bishnupur, A Gunamani to assess the infrastructural and academic facilities of the girls' residential school.
During the inspection, DC Pooja Elangbam reviewed key aspects of the school including classroom facilities, sanitation, drinking water, electricity, and dining arrangements.
She interacted directly with the students and teachers to gain insights into the daily functioning and well-being of the students.
The students warmly welcomed the Deputy Commissioner and expressed their gratitude for her visit.
They shared details of the food provided to them and also highlighted the need for subject-specific teachers to strengthen academic support.
The school faculty informed the DC that KGBV Moirang currently accommodates 200 students hailing from various districts of the state.
Remarkably, the school has maintained a 100% pass rate in the Class X examinations over the past four years.
Commending this achievement, the DC encouraged both students and staff to continue striving for excellence.
The school warden briefed the DC on the operational status of essential facilities such as water and electricity, along with other basic amenities.
Encouraging the students, DC Pooja Elangbam emphasized the importance of education and character development.
She urged them to work hard and participate actively in co-curricular activities, especially sports, for holistic growth and good health.
In a discussion with the ZEO, the DC explored the idea of organizing student benefit camps, which could provide additional academic and personal development opportunities.
It may be mentioned that Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Moirang, is a residential school dedicated to the education of girls from underprivileged backgrounds.
The institution supports girls facilitating their education from Class VI to X, and aims to ensure a smooth academic transition from elementary to secondary education.
Currently, the school is operating on a temporary basis at Moirang due to security concerns at its original location in Thamnapokpi.
