International Archives Day observed

The Department of Anthropology, Kha Manipur College observed International Archives Day today at the college premises located in Kakching Wairi Panjao Pallum.
It was attended by Dr Okram Rudrababu, principal of Kha Manipur College, P Memory, HOD Anthropology, Kha Manipur College and N Durjoy, vice-principal of Kha Manipur College, as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking at the event, Dr Okram Rudrababu said that 'International Archives Day' is supposed to be observed on the second Wednesday of June.
However due to some circumstances it was observed today organised by the Anthropology Department.
He stated that Archives Day is observed to raise awareness about the importance of safeguarding and protecting historical records and other artifacts for the future generation.
Stating that such historical records and facts are important for preserving culture and tradition, he urged the Archives Institutions and other organisations like the museums to organise more events like awareness campaigns, workshop programmes and exhibitions to increase public awareness of the importance of records and archives.
At the event, Mayanglambam Merina, secretary, People's Museum Kakching also briefed on the need for protecting and preserving historical documents and other ancient artifacts.
