Tamenglong launches National Road Safety Month with awareness rally

Tamenglong, January 16 2026:
National Road Safety Month 2026 was formally launched in Tamenglong on Thursday with an awareness programme organised by the District Administration Tamenglong in collaboration with the District Transport Office (DTO) .
Marking the commencement of the month-long observance, an auto rally was taken out from Haipou Jadonang Park to Mini Stadium, Utopia.
The rally was flagged off by Assistant Commissioner to the Deputy Commissioner Namthango Kamei, in the presence of Savio Daimei, MCS, Khumujam Nitanjoy, District Transport Officer, police personnel, DTO staff and other officials.
During the launch, key road safety messages were highlighted, urging motorists and pedestrians to wear helmets, avoid drinking and driving, refrain from using mobile phones while driving, obey traffic signals and ensure proper vigilance while crossing roads.
As part of the National Road Safety Month, a series of activities has been planned across the district to promote safe road behaviour and enhance public awareness.
These include wall painting drives, public awareness campaigns, road safety skits, a special enforcement-cum-awareness drive and a district-level painting, competition at various locations in Tamenglong.
Prizes and acknowledgements for the activities conducted during the month will be distributed on Republic Day, January 26 .
