86th Nupi Lan observed across State and beyond

The 86th Nupi Lan observance was held across State and beyond today, marked by floral tributes, community gatherings and reaffirmation of the historic movement's significance.
THOUBAL
In Thoubal, the 86th Nupi Lan observance was held at SECDO Ground Meira Shanglen, Thoubal Kshetri Leikai, jointly organised by the Kshetri Leikai Women Development Association (KWDA) and Social Educational and Cultural Development Organization (SECDO) .
Participants offered floral tributes to the women martyrs of Nupi Lan, in a simple yet solemn ceremony.
During the event, eldest Meira Paibi members and attendees of the programme were honoured with gifts in recognition of their contributions to society.

BISHNUPUR
The day was also marked today at Kwakta Sericulture Training Institute (Prefabricated House), jointly organised by the Ima Leimarel Apunba Lup, Churachandpur; and Nupi Samaj, Churachandpur.
The event was attended by Ch Sanahanbi Devi, pradhan of Torbung GP as chief guest; Angom Nayai, president of Ima Leimarel as functional president; Moirangthem Thoiba, president of Meitei Society, Churachandpur as guest of honour; and Ningthoujam Ramesh, Chief of AT Unit II and Ningthoujam Naba, co-convenor, CMUC as special invitees.
NJ Rajen, advisor, Meitei Society, Churachandpur served as resource person.
Speakers at the event stressed the need for unity and collective effort in protecting the integrity of Manipur and upholding the idea of Manipur.
TRIPURA
In Tripura the observance took place at Agartala Press Club, Tripura, organised by the Nupilan Observation Committee, Tripura.
The programme was attended by All Manipur Women Social Reformation and Development Samaj (Nupi Samaj) president, Thokchom Ongbi Ramani as chief guest; social activists and former Deputy Drug Controller, Tripura, Yelam Ongbi Kanchan Singha as special guest.
Renowned poet and Sahitya Akademi Awardee Sorokhaibam Gambhini; Naravan Patri, veteran journalist and ex-president of Tripura Working Journalists' Association; Khangemba Anandi, advisor of AMKIL; Heirengbam Watembi, secretary general of EECHAL; Rijia Khatun, general secretary of Mahila Parishad, Tripura; and Renu Takhellambam, president of Extra-Judicial Execution Victim Families Association (EEVFAM) Manipur, also attended the event.
The keynote and welcome address of the function was delivered by Social Activist, Heigrujam Ongbi Gandheswari Devi.
ASSAM
In Assam, the 86th Nupi Lan was observed today at Gandhi Bhawan, Silchar, organised by the All Manipur Meira Paibi Apunba Lup (AAMMPAL) .
The programme began with a cleanliness drive along Silchar Park Road, with around 100 volunteers participating.
The main function held at Gandhi Bhawan, Silchar, was attended by Kaushik Rai, Minister of Barak Valley Development, Government of Assam as chief guest; Beni Mishra, president of AAMMPAL as functional president and Mihir Kante Shote, MLA of Udharbond as special guest.
Other notable dignitaries included Rina Singh, chairperson of Manipur Development Council Assam; Dr Phuritsabam Birmani, president Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Assam; Ngasepam Sanahal, president of AAMSU; Nandababu Singha, retd Additional Secretary, Govt of Assam; Junali Devi, Assistant Commissioner; Yambem Momon Leima, president of All Manipuri Tammi Chingmi Apunba Lup; Wangkheimayum Amusana, president Macha Leima; Moirangthem Netaji, secretary general Mapi Council; Dr Sajabam Nurul Haque, social worker; Sangita Begum, president of Assam Manipuri Muslim Meira Paibi.
The event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest.
The welcome address was delivered by Bijoya Singha, secretary of AAMMPAL, while the keynote address was delivered by Memtombi Singha.
Former Meira Paibi leaders who made significant contributions to society were also honoured with gifts during the function.
A drama based on the theme of Nupi Lan was performed as the concluding highlight, enthralling the audience and reinforcing the historic struggle and courage of Manipuri women.
