Imphal, May 12 2025: The Meitei/Kathe Indigenous Development Association (MIDA) and Federation of Indigenous People's Democratic Movement (FIDM) solemnized Eputhou Pakhangba Chenghongba Thouram at the Eputhou Pakhangba Laishang, Mandalay Region, Amarapura Township Tutalay (Tatalay) today.

As per a press release issued by Jitmei Mangang, publicity secretary, FIDM, the ritualistic ceremony was led by Wahengbam Henthoiba, general secretary, MIDA.

FIDM has urged the Government to restore peace and allow Meitei pilgrims to travel to their sacred sites as before.

Additionally, the press release also highlighted the need for official recognition of Sanamahism by the Indian Government, giving religious minority status to its followers in the Indian Constitution and including Meetei/Meitei in the ST list.
