2-day workshop cum awareness programme on "Sangai Conservation" concludes

A two-day State-level workshop cum awareness programme on "Conservation of Sangai, it's environment and sustainable development" was concluded on Sunday at Chingmei Awang Leikai, Keibul Lamjao.
The workshop was sponsored by the Department of Forest and Directorate of Environment and Climate Change and organised by the Society for Sangai and Nature Conservation (SSNC) Keibul Lamjao in association with BRIC-Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal and Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
The valedictory function was attended by Raj Medicity MD Haobijam Rajen; DM University former VC, N Rajmuhon; SSNC Keibul Lamjao president Haobijam Hemeshwar; founder of KNK Foundation, Ningthoujam Uttam; along with the advisors of SSNC as presidium members.
On the concluding day of the programme, senior Project Associate, CAMPA Sangai Project, WII, Dehradun, Akoijam Santikumar; Research Scholar, Dept of Zoology (MU), Caroline Akoijam; and former VC of DM University, Professor N Rajmuhon delivered informative presentations as resource persons on the topic of "Conservation Action for Manipur's Brow Antlered Deer (Sangai)", "Keibul Lamjao National Park - A Natural Treasure in Need of Protection" and "Eco Tourism and Conservation of Biodiversity" .
The programme also featured an interactive session on formulating community action plans for conservation efforts.
Certificates were also distributed to the participating students through their respective schools at the conclusion of the workshop.
