Bishnupur, November 08 2025:
Bandh supporters have resolved to continue the indefinite bandh along the Kumbi-Wangoo State Highway after failing to reach an understanding with Deputy Commissioner, Bishnupur Pooja Elangbam.
The bandh entered its fifth day today.
Locals of the area submitted a memorandum to DC, Bishnupur, following which she visited Kumbi to inspect the condition of the State Highway and attempt to reach an agreement with the bandh supporters.
Despite holding talks at Kumbi Lamlong, an agreement between the two parties remained elusive and the DC proceeded to inspect the dilapidated road at Ithai Wapokpi.
On her return journey, she was stopped by locals near Kumbi Thongkhong but a police team including SP, Bishnupur intervened and dispersed the crowd.
According to social activist Jaya Khangembam, the Bishnupur DC said that they are waiting for the approval of their project proposal by the Manipur Governor and Chief Secretary to initiate road repair work in Kumbi.
For this purpose, they are set to meet the two officials on Monday and submit a memorandum.
Despite these assurances, the bandh supporters decided to continue the blockade until they see tangible developments on this front.
She also thanked DC Pooja Elangbam for visiting and holding dialogue with the people today.
