Robust health, education sector key to driving development in economy: Dr Angomcha Bimol

Lok Sabha MP Dr Angomcha Bimol Akoijam has highlighted the need to maintain quality in the health and education sector in order to ensure development of the State's economy.
He made the remark during the valedictory ceremony of an outreach program on "Reviving Traditional Utong Ngari Production" organised by Manipur International University and held at Ema Langol Lairembi Shanglen, Langol today.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, the Lok Sabha MP said that a State or Nation without a proper university system will continue to regress in all aspects.
Stating that progress in developed Nations is coupled with progress in education, he pointed out that Indian universities rank very low among the best universities in the world.
He highlighted the need for increased focus on the education sector in Manipur as it provides knowledge to students in all fields.
He further stressed that those who engage in economic activities need to maintain good health.
The Lok Sabha MP also lauded the outreach program on production of Utong Ngari saying research on the subject will add to modem knowledge.
On another note, he said that the Government needs to elaborate on how the phasewise shifting of IDPs back to their original homes will take place.
Accountability also needs to be fixed concerning the Manipur crisis, he said.
The event was attended by Manipur International University Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor P Kumar as the functional president and Registrar Professor T Brajeshwori and Director N Amarjit as the guests of honour.
Inmates from different relief camps also attended the valedictory event and were taught Utong Ngari production techniques.
