Awareness drive on 'Sexual & Reproductive Health' conducted at Lamjao Mayai Leikai

An awareness campaign on the theme "Sexual and Reproductive Health" was conducted at Lamjao Mayai Leikai Part-1 today, under the supervision of the District Administration Kakching.
The campaign was held as part of the ongoing 1 O-Days Special Awareness Campaign under SANKALP: HEW which will conclude on September 12, 2025 .
The campaign was organised by the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) and Integrated Child Development Services Scheme (ICDS) Cell, Kakching in collaboration with One Stop Centre and Shakti Sadan Home.
Wairokpam Hemabati, District Public Health Nurse (DPHNO), as a resource person, spoke in length regarding the importance of women's sexual and reproductive health.
Speaking on menstruation and its biological importance, she talked regarding the need for following safe and hygienic practices.
She stressed on using clean sanitary products to be followed with proper disposal and made awareness on ways to prevent infections.
On the other hand, the officials of ICDS Cell, Kakching also gave awareness regarding Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and its work in the district.
The official also made awareness about the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 which is a law addressing children in conflict with the law and those in need of care & protection, emphasizing rehabilitation, social reintegration and a child-friendly approach.
As part of the event, stationary items and sanitary pads were distributed by the officials to the women and girls who attended the awareness campaign.
Today's event was also attended by Waikhom Akajao, Vice President, Lamjao Part-1 Development Association; Thounaojam Renu Devi, former Ward Member, Mayeng Lamjao, Gram Panchayat and N Parango Singh, DPO/CDPO, Kakching along with officials among others.
