Eco-Tourism training programme launched in Chandel under RAMP scheme

Chandel, May 05 2026:
A three-day training programme on "Hospitality, Tourist Guide and Nature Guide Management" commenced on Tuesday at Chandel Christian Hall under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme.
The inaugural function was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Chandel Hemant Kumar as chief guest, while Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Chandel Dr N Munal Meitei presided as functional president.
Chairman of Maha Area Naga Chiefs Association JS Angam attended as guest of honour, with chief trainer Earlis Dilbung also present as a dais member.
Speaking at the inaugural, Dr N Munal Meitei highlighted that under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme, the Chandel Forest Division has been conducting various training programmes since 2025 across five eco-tourism-related trades.
He noted that around 350 educated but unemployed youths in Chandel have benefited, enabling them to pursue self-employment and emerge as entrepreneurs capable of generating jobs.
Emphasising the State's rich biodiversity, he said Manipur holds immense potential for eco-tourism.
He added that tourism, requiring relatively low investment, can generate substantial income and play a key role in projecting Manipur on the global map.
He expressed hope that such training initiatives under the RAMP scheme would bring significant positive changes not only in Chandel district but across the State.
Deputy Commissioner Hemant Kumar, in his address, described natural resources as valuable assets and stressed the need for their protection for the vision of a developed India.
He also underscored the vital role of women in societal development and urged people to actively participate in the training programmes organised by the DFO Chandel with sincerity and interest.
