Shija Hospitals shines at CAHOCON 2025

Shija Hospitals and Research Institute (SHRI), Imphal, has been conferred the 1st Runner's Up-East Zone under the iCOMPLY category for Infection Prevention & Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship at the CAHO Excellence Awards 2025 .
The award was presented during the 9th edition of CAHOCON, held at Hotel Pullman Aerocity, New Delhi, on April 13, 2025 .
As per a release issued by SHRI, the recognition follows a series of comprehensive iCOMPLY audits conducted by the Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organisations (CAHO), where hospitals across India were evaluated through a rigorous benchmarking process.
Shija Hospitals' selection reflects its consistent efforts to uphold high standards in patient safety, quality care, and infection control compliance.
The hospital's Infection Control Committee, led by Dr Kh Sulochana (Chairperson), Dr Y Biswabati and Thangjam Sangita Devi (Infection Control Officers), and supported by Infection Control Nurses Khaidem Beronika Devi and Chanamthabam Roshnibala Devi, have been at the forefront of this initiative.
The team's work included continuous surveillance of healthcare-associated infections and implementation of stringent standards and transmissionbased precautions.
They also promote robust hand hygiene practices and effective biomedical waste management.
To mark World Hand Hygiene Day on May 5, 2025, the Committee organised a quiz competition that brought together more than 44 teams from across departments, including junior residents, DNB students, nurses, paramedicals & support staff.
On March 3, 2025, an awareness session on hand hygiene was conducted at St Anthony School, Sangakpham, engaging school children and faculty in preventative health practices.
