6th Fire & Life Safety Training held

The 6th Fire & Life Safety Training under the Nation First @75 Campaign was held at the training hall of Manipur Fire Service Headquarter in Imphal today with participation from hospitals and nursing home staff.
The event aimed at spreading awareness on sustainable lifestyle choices and encouraging the public to contribute to protecting the environment.
Speaking at the event, A Subhash Singh, Additional Secretary (Home), stressed the need for regular training and interactive sessions to build fire prevention skills, especially in hospitals where patients may not be able to move during emergencies.
He called for a list of hospital fire trainers, mandatory fire safety certification for new hospitals, dedicated space for fire service vehicles, and the inclusion of the banking sector in fire safety programs.
L Nabachandra, Director of Manipur Fire Service, noted that the 6th session will emphasize the importance of firefighting equipment training along with technical demonstrations.
The training underlined the need for preparedness, compliance, and awareness to safeguard lives in hospitals and public spaces, he added.
Ngangom Uttam, Director of MAHUD/IPR, urged strict adherence to building bylaws, regular maintenance of equipment, and the use of small fire extinguishers in vehicles, especially in congested lanes.
The event featured technical sessions on the importance of fire & life safety in hospitals, its maintenance, care & handling of first aid fire-fighting equipment along with fixed fire fighting installation.
