Imphal, June 29 2025: Save Environment Campaign Committee, Heingang has clarified that no prohibition was imposed on the excavation of earth materials from Heingang Ching to stop the overflow and restore the breached embankments of Imphal River at Heingang Mayai Leikai during the recent flood on May 30.However, attempts to excavate earth from the hill for unjustified reasons were stopped, said Committee chairman Mutum Inao.

Addressing media persons at Heingang today, Mutum Inao accused Tayenjam Santa, convenor of Joint Coordinating Committee Heingang Mayai Leikai, of making false allegations against the Committee chairman on June 27.The accusation that the Committee chairman reported them to the police whenever they tried to excavate earth from Heingang Ching to address the flood woes and the police along with the Forest Department prohibited them from moving the earth materials, is baseless and false, claimed Mutum Inao.

He demanded Santa to present evidence to prove his allegations within 5 days (from today).

Failing which, the Joint Coordinating Committee convenor should tender an apology via print media and accept that all charges against Mutum Inao were baseless.
