LNC denounces charges against Kasar

Imphal, May 28 2025: The Liangmai Naga Council, Manipur (LNC) has strongly condemned the "baseless and defamatory" complaint lodged against social activist Ashang Kasar by Sangaikot Sub-Division Defence Committee (SSDDC) of Churachandpur accusing him of making a provocative statement on X (formerly Twitter) using the account handle @Ashang_Kasar.

A press release issued by Ch Wisobou, vice president, LNC Manipur, asserted that the account @Ashang_Kasar is a fake profile created by miscreants with malicious intent to tarnish the reputation of the Indigenous People's Forum, Manipur (IPFM) president.

LNC has urged the Government of Manipur to be vigilant and investigate the origins of such malicious content and initiate legal proceedings against those involved in creating and spreading falsehoods through fake social media accounts.

Additionally, LNC termed it disturbing and unacceptable that an "unrecognized and self-styled body" like the SSDDC has raised such serious allegations without verification.

Questioning the legitimacy of SSDDC and the authority under which it operates, LNC maintained that this action appears to be a deliberate attempt to mislead the public, spread false propaganda, and create further division in the fragile socio-political landscape of Manipur.

Maintaining that no provocative post or statement was made by Ashang Kasar, LNC has stressed that the accusations are entirely fabricated and without value.
