CAMPAIGNING FOR votes to the upcoming by-election of 27-Moirang Asembly Constituency scheduled to be held on December 27 ends at 4 pm tomorrow.
An official notification was issued today in this regard by Shambhu Singh, Chief Electoral Officer, Manipur.
The notification informed that �political functionaries/party workers of any political party, procession functionaries, campaign functionaries or group, etc.
who have been brought from outside the constituency and who are not voters of the constituency, should leave the constituency immediately after the conclusion of the campaign period.�
This measure is being taken up to ensure smooth conduct of free and fair elections and in strict compliance of Model code of conduct in the ensuing by-election, the notification said.
The afore-mentioned persons/workers should not continue to remian present in the constituency as their continued presence after the campaign period shall undermine the atmosphere for free and fair poll,� the notification added.
The movement of vehicle inside 27-Moirang A/C immediately after the close of campaign period shall be watched strictly by the DC/District Election Officer, Bishnupur and Superintendent of Police, Bishnupur, it said and further warned that any lapse in this regard will be viewed seriously and appropriate necessary actions will be taken in consultation with the Election Commission of India.
The CEO further appealed all political parties, contesting candidates, election agents, political workers and all concerned to co-operate with the district authorities/police authorities to ensure compliance of the above standing instruction of the Election Commission so as to enable conduct of a free and fair by-election.
