Conference on "Rajarshi Bhagyachandra and Shaping of Manipur's Cultural Horizons" kicks off

A two-day international conference on "Rajarshi Bhagyachandra and the shaping of Manipur's cultural horizons" kicked off today at the Court Hall of Manipur University, Canchipur.
The conference was jointly organised by the Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Cultural Foundation, Manipur (RBCFM); College Development Council, Manipur University (MU); and Department of Sankirtana, Manipur University of Culture (MUC) to commemorate the 227th death anniversary of Rajarshi Bhagyachandra.
The conference was organised in collaboration with Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Cultural Research Centre, Manipur University; Academy for Manipuri Culture & Arts, Sylhet, Bangladesh; Bharatiya Itihas Sankalan Samity, Manipur Prant; Department of History, Dhanamanjuri University (DMU); and Intellectual Forum of North-East, Manipur.
The inaugural function was graced by dignitaries, including Prof Naorem Lokendra Singh, Vice Chancellor, 'Manipur University; RK Jitendrajit Singh, president, RBCFM; and Kh Rajen Singh, kshetra karavak, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.
The function began with a welcome address by Thokchom Ritankuamar Singh, Head, Department of Sankirtana, MUC followed by a keynote address by Takhellambam Irabot, spokesperson of RBCFM.
The first day of the conference featured two sessions chaired by Prof L Bishwanath Sharma, Head, Department of Philosophy, MU and Prof Chirom Raj Ketan Singh, Department of Manipuri, MU .
In the first session, Kakchingtabam Brajamani Sharma presented a talk on the topic "Manipur Vaishnav Dharmagi Nung Ge Warol" and BM Maishnamba spoke on "Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Amasung Anouba Mayonge Laining Lambi" .
In the second session, Dr Lamabam Gojendro Singh delivered a lecture on the topic "Manipurgi Sana Kumhei Amasung Natta Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Gi Khudol" while L Upendro Sharma elaborated on "Rajarshi Bhagyachandra Amasung Manipur Kala Sanskriti" and Phanjoubam Iboton Singh spoke on "Manipuri Ras" .
Dr Makhonmani Mongsaba also gave a talk on the topic "Houkhiba Puwarida Chingthangkhomba" .
The first day of the conference concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr Kadam Ibotombi Singh, Department of Sociology, DMU.
Notably, the two-day conference will feature paper presentations by 26 experts and research scholars on various topics related to Rajarshi Bhagyachandra.
