Electoral Roll Observer reviews SIR progress in Senapati

Tamenglong and Noney districts, today reviewed the progress of die Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026 of electoral rolls during a meeting held at the Conference Hall ofthe Mini Secretariat, Senapati.

The meeting was attended by District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner, Senapati, Dharun Kumar S; Electoral Registration Officers (EROs); Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs); representatives of MLAs of the 47-Karong (ST) and 48-Mao (ST) Assembly Constituencies; representatives of recognised national and State political parties; and members of the public.

Welcoming the participants, the Deputy District Election Officer, Senapati, presented the district profile and briefed the gathering on the progress of SIR 2026 in the district through a PowerPoint presentation.

He also highlighted the ongoing revision process in the three Assembly Constituencies of Senapati district.

During the interaction, Mohan Lal Meena urged EROs and AEROs to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the revision process.

Emphasising the Election Commission of India's commitment to maintaining an accurate and inclusive electoral roll, he invited suggestions, queries and grievances from political parties and members of the public.

Representatives of political parties and the public raised issues concerning discrepancies in names and relatives' names in electoral rolls, deletion of duplicate entries, timelines of the revision process, electors residing outside the State and other matters related to SIR.

Responding to the queries, the Electoral Roll Observer clarified that genuine grievances would be addressed in accordance with ECI provisions.

He said electors would be given an opportunity to submit supporting documents during the hearing process and that corrections, wherever required, could be made by submitting the prescribed Form-8.He further stated that cases of duplicate enrolment would be verified as per ECI guidelines and necessary corrections would be carried out after due verification.

The Observer appreciated the efforts of the district election machinery in carrying out the SIR and stressed the need for close coordination among election officials, political parties and the public to ensure a transparent inclusive and error-free electoral roll.

Later, Mohan Lal Meena inspected Polling Stations No 47/64-Senapati (A) and 49/61-Taphou Naga to review the progress of the ongoing revision process.

He was accompanied by the District Election Officer, EROs, AEROs and the respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs).

During the inspection, he assessed the implementation of SIR activities and interacted with officials engaged in the revision exercise.
