Two-day seminar on Tripura Manipuri women and cultural heritage from July 25

Imphal, July 23 2026: A two-day national seminar exclusively for women, titled "Reflecting Roots: Tripura Manipuri Women & Cultural Heritage," will be held at the Agartala Press Club on July 2 5 and 26 in memory of late Prof Nongmaithem Tombi Singh.

The seminar will be jointly organised by Takhellei Tengbang Lup (Takhel Leima Tengbang Lup), Tripura, and Nongmaithem Foundation, Imphal.

According to a release issued by organising committee convenor Khoisnam Mangal, the inaugural session will be attended by Leimarol Khorjeikol president Chongtham Ongbi Subadini as chief guest, Takhellei Tengbang Lup vice-president Shija Malina as functional president, former Head of the Department of Manipuri, Dhanamanjuri University, Imphal, Rajkumari Musuksana Devi as guest of honour, and Sahitya Akademi awardee S Gambhini Singha and retired Deputy Drug Controller of the Tripura Government Y Kanchan Singha as special guests.

The seminar will focus on the role and contributions of Manipuri women in Manipuri literature, art and culture, society, and the preservation and promotion of traditions and cultural heritage.

The academic sessions will be conducted in three sessions, during which writers and experts will present papers on various aspects of women's role in society and literature, as well as women, culture and performing arts.

A poetry reading session, chaired by Nongmaithem Anuradha, will also be held, featuring 15 poets from Manipur and Tripura.

On the second day, a group interaction involving writers from Manipur and Tripura will be organised at the office of Takhellei Tengbang Lup, bringing together participants to exchange views and experiences on women, culture and the preservation of shared heritage.
