Thoubal, September 22 2024:
Chief Minister N Biren Singh must withdraw his recent statement in which he allegedly accused people of Thoubal, Wangjing and Heirok of inciting violence during protest, said locals of Heirok.
At an event at Thambal Sanglen on September 17, the Chief Minister allegedly accused the people of Thoubal, Wangjing and Heirok of inciting violence in protest demonstrations in Imphal.
The statement he made portrayed the people of the region in the wrong light and created division among the masses.
When the CM making such a statement is highly uncalled for and irresponsible, as a leader of the State, he should withdraw his statement, resolved locals of Heirok in a meeting today.
The meeting was organised by the Heirok Apunba Club and Heirok Apunba Meira Paibi at Heirok Part-II Umang Laikol.
The public at the meeting asserted that the Chief Minister should not blame the people of Thoubal, Wangjing and Heirok for his failures in governance.
The statement, Chief Minister N Biren Singh made shows he is unable to see his people equally.
The statement he made was irresponsible and aimed at dividing the people, they said.
The Chief Minister shouldn't ditch responsibility and blame the people of the region for the violence that has occurred in Manipur, they added.
The Chief Minister must withdraw his statement, take steps to end the prolonged conflict and allow displaced people to return home, they said.
Meanwhile, former BJP Manipur Pradesh vice president Th Jadumani has asserted that the Chief Minister has not sidelined or abandoned the people of Thoubal.
At a meeting attended by members of BJP Thoubal, ex-Pradhan, Members of GP and Municipal Council at Khangabok, Jadumani said the Chief Minister thinks and cares for the people of Thoubal district and has implemented various welfare and developmental projects in the region.
He said some people with vested interests are trying to show the Chief Minister in the wrong light and people shouldn't believe them.
Jadumani clarified that the Chief Minister's statement was aimed at some people with vested interests who often hinder in steps taken up to resolve the Manipur conflict.
He further claimed that the BJP Government has taken up many developmental projects in Thoubal which Congress couldn't when they had a CM from Thoubal for 15 years.
"It was under Chief Minister N Biren Singh's Government that Manipur got ILP (Inner Line Permit System).
Border fencing works are on to check the influx of illegal immigrants.
The Free Movement Regime (FMR) has been removed.
The Congress did none of these during their 15 years," Jadumani said.
"There has also been a political ploy to force the CM to resign, but people know this is not the right time.
People should think if CM's resignation would help resolve the crisis or worsen the situation," he said.
