Mother of Thanga stabbing victim, others call on Governor

Thiyam Karuna Devi, grieving mother of Late Meitei Salai Thiyam of Palace Compound, accompanied by four others, met Governor Ajay Khumar Khalla at Raj Bhavan, Imphal today.
During the meeting, Thiyam Karuna Devi submitted a memorandum to the Governor seeking justice for his son who died after being stabbed in Thanga, Bishnupur district on July 6, 2025.In the memorandum, the grieving mother urged the Governor to constitute a Special Investigation Team to thoroughly investigate the criminal conspiracy, especially the alleged coordinated roles of Pinky, Lanchenba, Kelvin, Taihanganbi, and others; ensure that strict and exemplary punishment is awarded to all involved; Initiate legal action against bystanders who chose to record the dying moments of her son rather than save his life; and ensure a fast-track judicial process so that justice is neither delayed nor denied.
"As a mother who lost her only son in such a cruel manner, I am shattered beyond words.
But I seek justice- not only for my son, but for every youth who may fall prey to such betrayal and brutality in the future", added Thiyam Karuna Devi.
Moreover, representatives of the Aimol Students' Union, Manipur (ASUM), also called on the Governor at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, this evening and submitted a memorandum outlining certain concerns affecting the community.
As per a release issued by PRO Raj Bhavan, the representatives highlighted the long-standing challenges that continue to impact the everyday lives of people.
The memorandum conveyed the community's collective appeal for attention and support on matters of public infrastructure, essential services, and youth development.
After giving a patient hearing, the Governor assured them to take necessary measures to address the issues.
