Thoubal, July 22 2024:
Students of Haoreibi Makha Leikai High Madrassa staged a protest demonstration against the transfer of three teachers from the school when it is struggling with shortage of teachers.
The students urged the authorities concerned to revoke the transfer order at the earliest in the interest of the students.
Speaking at the sidelines, a Class X student of the school strongly condemned the transfer of teachers when the school is facing shortage of teachers.
Stating that only 13 teachers out of 22 deputed teachers are teaching the students from Class I to X in the school, the discontented student maintained that the transfer order of three teachers from the school by the Department of Education (S) dated July 19, is an act to discourage the students of Government educational institutions.
She termed the act as unacceptable which shows the lack of concern by the Department of Education towards the Government schools and the students studying in these schools who majorly belong to poor and humble households.
Considering the inconveniences faced by the school due to shortage of teachers, she sought the attention of the Chief Minister, Education Minister and the relevant departments into the matter and take up immediate measures to revoke the transfer order.
She further cautioned that intense form of agitation will be staged by the students if the transfer order is not revoked at the earliest.
The protesting students used placards which read 'We condemn transfer of teachers', 'Revoke the transfer order', 'Save the career of students', etc and chanted similar slogans.
