MCJCC observes 2nd foundation day at Haokha

The Meitei Community Joint Coordinating Committee (MCJCC), Thoubal - an umbrella body of various clubs and organisations of Waithou, Kiyam,Kiyam Siphai, Haokha, celebrated its 2nd foundation day on Sunday at Haokha MamangFootball Ground, marking the completion of two years since its formation.
The event was attended by former president of United Committee (UCM), Manipur and social worker Yumnam Nabachandra; MCJCC, Thoubal president Nongthomban Biren; Mera Yuva Bharat State Director Lisham Marjitkumar; retd Associate Professor of Thoubal College Dr Thongam Komol Meetei; and caretaker councillors of Thoubal Ward no 12, 14, 15 & 16, among others.
As part of the programme, MJCC honoured individuals from 18 villages who have significant contributions towards the growth and development of the Committee by presenting them with simple gifts.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest Yumnam Nabachandra lauded the unity and collective spirit displayed by MJCC members for their role and efforts in serving society and the State.
He expressed hope that the organisation would continue its work successfully in the future for the development of the society.
The main highlight of the celebration was a women's tug of war competition organised to acknowledge the courage of women and promote indigenous sports.
12 teams comprising women from 12 localities participate in the competition.
In the competition, the Youth Welfare Association secured the first position, while Khong Ahanbi Youth Association finished second and United Sports and Development Association, Haokha Mamang clinched the third position.
