Provide essential items for Lamtai Khunou village volunteers, appeals FOCS

Federation of Civil Society Organisation (FOCS), Manipur has appealed relevant authorities to provide the necessary essential items for Lamtai Khunou village volunteers safeguarding Borobekra.
Th Manihar, president, FOCS made the appeal during a press conference held at JIMP AL office today.
Addressing the media persons, Th Manihar said that the FOCS team had come to take stock of the situation at Jiribam.
Calling for the establishment of a common control room where different quarters can work in cooperation, he suggested that meetings with the affected families can also be arranged in consultation with the members of the control room.
A request has been made to DC Jiribam to shift some people from Bidyanagar Multipurpose Sports Complex owing to the huge number of families staying there.
The DC has also assured to take swift action in this connection, he added.
Highlighting the hardships faced by Lamtai Khunou village volunteers in terms of sleeping quarters, water shortage and medical facilities and medicines among others, Th Manihar urged the State Government to make arrangements for these essential needs.
He further made an appeal to Chief Minister N Biren Singh to provide adequate security for the people to resettle in their original homes.
Meanwhile, E Dewan, president, Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) appealed for deployment of State forces instead of Central forces in Jiribam.
Representatives of JDO, JIMPAL, UJYL, JAKCL, CADA JIRI, FOCS, Manipur Women's Federation and Pari Puri Athouba Ningsing Lup were present at the press briefing.
