CSOs inspect condition of resettled IDPs, security arrangements

Bishnupur, December 20 2025:
Six organisations paid an inspection visit to the resettled IDPs of Torbung Gram Panchayat to assess their living condition and take stock of the security arrangement in the area yesterday.
The CSOs are Peace Committee Kangleipak Manipur, Meitei Leepun, Thawai Mirel, United Women Development Organization Bishnupur District, Victim Committee Torbung and Thamnapokpi Nupi Yaipha Marup Bishnupur District.
The six CSOs also donated essential items and blankets to three households which include families who are currently sheltering in other homes even after their return or had a death or illness in the family.
The team also took stock the security measures and precautions taken to protect the people of Torbung GP and spoke with the security force to assess the possibility of security lapses with regards to the recent attack at Torbung by armed Kukis on December 16.The security personnel assured that efforts are being poured into ensuring that such unfortunate incidents are not repeated in the future.
Aside from gauging the challenges faced by the returning IDPs, the six groups have informed that they will also start spending nights in the village.
Additionally, RK Tombisana, general secretary, United Women Development Organization Bishnupur District urged Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to take strong and decisive action against the armed Kukis responsible for launching the bomb and gun attack on returning IDPs .
