Nepali Language Day celebrated

Nepali Sahitya Parishad, Manipur, celebrated the 34th Nepali Language Day at the Community Hall in Kanglatombi, Imphal West district today.
The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Dr Doli Limbu, Professor, DM University; Meena Bista, Chairperson, Kanglatombi Gram Panchayat Administrative Committee; Sita Devi Chettri, president, Nepali Sahitya Parishad, Manipur; and Dr Tankanath Khatriwada.
As per a release issued by Nepali Sahitya Parishad Manipur, the highlight of the programme was the felicitation of outstanding students who secured the highest marks in Nepali and Sanderit subjects in Class 10 and 12 board examinations.
Additionally, students who achieved top overall rankings in Manipur with Nepali as a subject were also felicitated.
Among the awardees were Sharada Karki, Sneha Devi Khatriwada, Sujal Baniya, Sahil Basnet, and Aditya Dulal, who received various memorial awards, including Bishnu Prasad-Laxmi Devi Adhikari Memorial Award, Dilliram Acharya Memorial Award, Chandra Prasad Shanna & Kishor Kumar Sharma Memorial Award, Devi Prasad Baskota-Kamala Devi Baskota Memorial Award, and Laxmi Prasad Sharma-Ganga Devi Sharma Memorial Award.
The 5th Asha Rani Rai Memorial Award, dedicated to contributions in the field of drama, was awarded to Puma Kumar Sharma of Assam.
On this special day, heartfelt congratulations were also extended to the Manipuri and Konkani language communities, who are likewise observing their Language Day.
The Nepali Sahitya Parishad, Manipur expressed its deepest gratitude to all language advocates and well-wishers for their continued support.
The event saw participation from various prominent organisations such as Manipur Gorkha Reform Association, All Manipur Gorkha Students' Organisation, Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh, Manipur, Nepali Culture Protection Council, Women's Committee, Kanglatongbi Bishnu Panchayan Temple Committee, etc.
Notable attendees included Bhawani Adhikari, Khem Sharma, Padam Acharya, Shantanu Kumar Limbu, Ram Prasad Subedi, Hari Nepal, Laxman Bista, Meghnath Poudel and Sitaram Kafle.
The audience was mesmerized by the melodious performance of Shantanu Kumar Limbu.
Literary readings were also presented by Sahitya Akademi awardee and Parishad general secretary Suraj Chapagain, Devi Prasad Thapa "Mama", Saurabh Subedi, Kishor Chamling, and Hom Prasad Sivakoti.
The event was emceed by Homnath Chapagain, while welcome and vote of thanks were delivered by Pushpa Sharma Acharya and Sunil Limbu respectively.
