The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, has organised a series of health initiatives as part of the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan (SNSPA), which commenced on September 17, 2025.As per a release issued by RIMS, on September 18, a Blood Donation Camp was held at the Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS, Imphal, along with a Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) screening covering hypertension, diabetes, and cancer.
The initiative aimed to promote preventive health care and community awareness, while also encouraging the noble act of voluntary blood donation as a vital contribution to saving lives.
A total of nine voluntary donors came forward to donate blood during the camp.
On September 19, another Blood Donation Camp was organised in association with Life Saver.
A drive for Digital ABHA ID registration was also conducted followed by a Yoga Session and another round of NCD screening.
Also, the Department of Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry, Dental College, RIMS, Imphal, organised a Continuing Dental Education (CDE) programme on "Dementia Awareness: Dementia & Oral Health" at the college's examination hall.
Dr Tamphasana Wairokpam, MD (Internal Medicine), University of Sheffield, UK, served as the resource person of the programme.
The programme was attended by faculty members, postgraduate students, and interns, and fostered interactive discussions on integrating oral health care into the management of dementia patients.
SCPC, UPHC Sagolband
As part of the Swasth Nari, Surakshit Parivar Abhiyaan, Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) Sagolband and Sagolband Constituency Progressive Committee (SCPC) Sagolband jointly organised a 1-day free health camp at SMLVO Club, Bijoy Govinda, Imphal on September 19.The camp was held under the supervision of the Sagolband AC MLA RK Imo Singh.
As per a release issued by the office of the Sagolband AC MLA, a wide range of medical services were provided free of cost during the camp, including comprehensive health screening for women, BP/Diabetes screening, oral cancer screening, Smartscope cervical cancer screening, breast cancer screening, specialist doctors' consultation, distribution of free medicines, free laboratory test, immunisation services, PMJAY (Ayushman Bharat) card registration, Tuberculosis screening and testing, AYUSH OPD services, dengue and malaria testing, and antenatal screening for pregnant women.
The health camp witnessed encouraging participation from residents of Sagolband, reflecting the growing awareness and collective resolve to build a healthy Sagolband, a healthy Manipur.
