Imphal, July 19 2026:
Wangkhei AC MLA Thangjam Arunkumar has appealed to students and youth to use mobile phones and Artificial Intelligence platforms responsibly to avoid future challenges.
He was speaking at the 24th Annual Felicitation Ceremony-2026 organised by Wal United Youths' Club at Wangkhei Angom Leikai Community Hall.
The club honored toppers of Class 10 and 12 medal winners in sports, and achievers in other fields.
Thangjam Arunkumar said parents, in an attempt to keep children engaged, are giving them mobile phones, which is making the present generation unaware of society's customs and traditions.
He urged parents to refrain from handing over phones to young children amid rising cases of speech delay and behavioral issues.
Highlighting unemployment, he said students should learn skills along with academics so they are not jobless after studies.
"If we can reform the current education system and introduce a new one, the problem of unemployment can be addressed", he added.
He further cautioned that with AI capable of doing most jobs, unemployment could worsen if youth are not skilled.
Club president T Bhupenkumar, advisor RK Sanajaoba, Dr N Achouba, L Pradeep and others attended the function.
