Imphal, November 18 2025: A Senior Accounts officer has been arrested red-handed on the charge of bribery by the Central Bureau of Investigation (Anti-Corruption Branch).

Irom Bishorjit of Haobam Marak Irom Leikai, a Senior Accounts Officer at the office of the Principal Accountant (A&E), GOE Section, was caught red-handed this morning while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 for processing an MACP (Modified Assured Career Progression) file from a staff of Forensic Science Laboratory, Pangei.

According to a source, CBI (ACB) registered a case based on the complaint that the arrested Senior Accounts officer demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant in order to get the complainant's MACP file cleared.

Subsequently, a team of CBI (ACB) Imphal laid a trap today morning and caught the Senior Accounts officer red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 inside his office chamber.

Soon after, the Senior Accounts officer was taken into custody.

Further, a CBI team conducted a search in the officer's premises and his residence located at Haobam Marak Irom Leikai.

The arrested Senior Account officer is likely to be produced before the CBI Court concerned along with a prayer for remanding him to custody for further investigation of the case.
