MSCW holds sensitisation programme on "Sexual Harassment at Workplace" in Tengnoupal

The Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW), in collaboration with the Centre for Women and Girls, organised a one-day sensitisation program on the "Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013" at the Conference Hall of the DC Tengnoupal Office, Tengnoupal District.
The event aimed to raise awareness of women's rights in the workplace and to promote safer, more inclusive working environments.
The program sought to educate attendees about the Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) and the Local Complaint Committee (LCC), which are responsible for effectively addressing incidents related to the Prevention, Prohibition, and Redressal Act of 2013 .
Th Tiningpham Monsang, chairperson of the MSCW, highlighted that sexual harassment is not only perpetrated by men but can also involve women.
She also mentioned that sensitisation programs are important for handling sexual harassment complaints and for fostering a safe and respectful workplace.
Additionally, she emphasized that understanding women's rights is essential for promoting equality and empowerment.
The central part of the program featured Hechin Haokip, Executive Director of the Centre for Women and Girls, who spoke as a resource person on the topic of "Sexual Harassment of Women at the Workplace" .
She further explained the guidelines, roles and responsibilities of the Internal Committee and the Local Committee for effective implementation of the Act.
The programme was also attended by T Chuongsin Koireng (MSCW Member) and Saurabh Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Tengnoupal District, along with Government officials, local leaders, and representatives from various organisations.
After the session, an interacting meeting was held between DLOs and representatives of various Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) of Tengnoupal District, with Chairperson Th Tiningpham Monsang and T Chuongsin Koireng, member of Manipur State Commission for Women, Saurabh Yadav, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Tengnoupal District, SDO and SDCs, discussed on the various issues and challenges faced by the IDPs currently living in the district.
