Two held for extortion

Imphal, August 17 2025: Two persons including a CID personnel have been caught extorting money using a fake gun in Yairipok area, bordering Imphal East and Thoubal districts.

The person posted with the CID Special Branch has been identified as Khulakpam Amumacha (38) of Yairipok Tulihal Makha Leikai.

The other person has been identified as Tampakmayum Arshad (25) of Yairipok Tulihal Idigah.

The two were caught by the locals when they were trying to extort an auto-rickshaw on the Yairipok Keithel to Keithelmanbi road at around 9 pm yesterday.

The locals then handed them over to the police.

Andro police have registered a case for investigation.

The two have been remanded to police custody after they were produced before a Duty Magistrate.
