Imphal, July 16 2025:
Demonstrating a strong commitment to community welfare, the Imphal Naga Forum has distributed blankets, quilts and other essential items to the people affected by the recent floods which left a trail of destruction in many parts of the State.
A delegation of the Imphal Naga Forum took the role of a good Samaritan by reaching out to the inmates of Sajiwa and Sawombung Relief Camps in Imphal East district on July 12, 2025, under the initiative of its convenor Ambition Anth.
Leaders of the Imphal based Forum held an in depth discussion with the inmates on various challenges confronting the internally displaced people.
As per a release issued by Imphal Naga Forum, more than 720 inmates have been housed in these camps set up by the State Government since the outbreak of the ethnic mayhem in the State on May 3, 2023.The delegation found that the displaced people have been reeling under immense difficulties in the relief camp.
Seeing no hope of immediate return to their respective homes in the near future, the inmates have been languishing in the relief camp getting no respite from the multiple woes.
Some of the inmates reportedly went out for work to earn wages during the daytime as the expense money given by the State Government were too less and too little to meet their ends.
Notably, this is the 2nd time that the Imphal Naga Forum took the great troubles of donating huge quantities of relief materials to various' flood victims across the Imphal valley.
The disbursal of clothes, blankets, mattresses', quilts and books to the people who bore the brunt of the surging floodwaters in recent days began on July 7, 2025 and continued till July 11, 2025 .
Altogether, 700 bags of clothes, 1000 library books, footwears and 300 mattresses'/quilts have been distributed to the flood affected victims.
