Jananeta Hijam Irawat birth anniversary celebration held

Thoubal, September 13 2026: 130th Jananeta Hijam Irawat birth anniversary celebration was held today at Tampha Sanglen in Khangabok Part I .

The birth anniversary celebration was organised by Irawat Celebration Committee, Khangabok Local Council CPI The event commenced with paying floral tributes to the portrait of Jananeta Hijam Irawat and Thokchom Achouba who was among the prominent leaders of Khangabok Assembly Constituency.

Speaking as the resource persons, CPI Thoubal District Council secretary Leisangthem Kshetra Singh and CPI leader Dr Sanasam Subhamenon deliberated on the life history of the eminent leader Hijam Irawat and his significant contributions towards the upliftment of the people.

As a part of the programme, a book titled, "Manipur gi Apunba Saktam da Singnarakpa amasung Manipur gi Tung gi Lambi" in Bengali and Meitei Mayek script, authored by renowned writer Bhorot Sanasam was also released.

The book is published by Heikham Rajen for Tampha Foundation Khangabok.

It may be noted that Manipur State Council CPI secretary Athokpam Nabachnadra Singh; Manipur State Council CPI Control Commission Member B Nabakishor Sharma, Communist leader from Khangabok Thokchom Sanajaoba Singh graced as the presidium members of the event.
